Going back to the OP's original question: I cannot imagine the travel benefits being worth the BS you go through working at a hotel. Particularly at retirement. Leaving that job (front desk) was like a huge weight was lifted off my back. Management was frustrating, to say the least.
I’d have to imagine that it feels a lot different when you are working “for fun” rather than for a living, though. I’m a long way from retirement so I can’t speak to that specifically, but knowing you aren’t actually dependent on the job alleviates a lot of the normal irritations.
