Interestingly, during my flight, I received voicemails from the DEN GS team informing me that I had been protected etc. The pick of them though was right after landing - the voice mail said "You have landed, and you will be okay so I'm leaving it" - well, okay then! To make it interesting, we took 15 minutes to pull into the gate (no marshals available), but fortunately a further delay on the connection meant that I was able to board with group 5. Got lucky - mine was the last rollaboard to find a home, and remarkably, it was a home in my row. All's well that ends well. I hope someone enjoyed my vegetarian chili with polenta on the DEN-SJC flight that I missed!
I'm glad to hear you made it and really happy to hear the DEN team was looking out for you.
My near mis-connect at DEN late last year did not end well. Landed late but got to the gate just before the 15-minute cutoff. Based on the announcements of "absolutely final boarding" I doubt they were waiting. Of course my seat and meal were gone and I got middle bulkhead Y on the 772 HD with the tray built into the side, a bit tight but oh well. Flight arrived 45 minutes early into IAD but my luggage was on the next flight. Which was 2 hours late. IAD baggage office is not staffed after 1.30 am so they could not guarantee I would get my luggage before the next evening if I did not wait at the airport myself to pick it up. Would have been better if I had missed the flight myself.
