From the descriptions of the process it seems there's a limited number of gates at which one can arrive and have one stop security. So if a previous arrival is delayed in departing, then you lose.
(Similar to CDG, where there are a limited number of gates in the AF complex that arrive into the secure area, so there's a chance (about 50/50 in my experience) an AF flight from the US will not have connecting pax go through security... and of course even at airports like AMS and FRA where there's more provision for no security on connection, it's not always guaranteed)
That’s interesting. I have flown through DOH a fair bit, where most of the time you have to re-clear security to transit, but on occasion they let you through without reclearing. I have yet to determine the criteria. It does not appear to be originating airport specific.
