If row 8 has extra room it sure can't be seen with the naked eye. I see no additional value in row 8. As cblaisd says, 1B or 1C aren't bad for your legs, although you have to keep moving them to be polite to the FA (1B the FA is sitting in front of you for takeoff, and 1C when drinks are being served).
