I agree with the above advice. The real answer is that the process is highly variable. If there is one standard approach to consistently get upgrades, then everyone would eventually know it and do the same thing.

Im glad you got an upgrade by calling but most people don’t do that people they probably haven’t had that same success and gave up. Persistence certainly pays.
