On the Tiers & Benefits webpage, Hyatt words it as “
Room Upgrade Upgraded room based on availability at check-in at participating locations. Globalist: Including Standard Suites”.
Is the probability of receiving this type of Globalist suite upgrade different for
online check-in vs
in person check-in?
Thank you.
(I’ve had good luck several times by calling the hotel front desk at about 10:00am on the day of arrival with late afternoon in-person check-in. Give them a “song and dance” about how it’s a special occasion and I’ll probably be hosting friends before and after dinner and it would be wonderful to do that in the quiet and comfort and spaciousness of a suite. That’s often after writing in the comments of the reservation “please place 3 wine glasses and 2 water glasses in room prior to check-in”, gotta keep the stratagem** going

.
Still remember Hyatt Centric Times Square several years ago and Hyatt Regency Boston recently FDAs saying to me “we only have one suite available and I’ve put you in it” when I thought there must be a bunch of Globs checking in that afternoon before I check-in and they otherwise might have been assigned that “one” suite. Of course the FDAs might have just been slinging the usual nonsense.
Regardless, based on that procedure, I’ve been quite a happy
camper hotel guest
in a suite several times

.
Calling a day or more sooner than morning of check-in has always resulted in being told “it’s based on availability
on day of check-in so we can’t tell you right now. There are a couple of hotel’s where I’ve stayed several to many times and I’ve emailed various management staff and they’ve confirmed a “as available” suite upgrade days in advance.)
(* a song and dance: “Dictionary, a long explanation that is pointless or deliberately evasive.”)
(** stratagem: “Dictionary, noun, a plan or scheme especially one used to outwit an opponent or achieve an end.”)
