Well, I checked in for a 15h stay today. No discussion, but they may have only seen my destination and assumed I was on the next flight. Last time there was some pushback for a 12h stay and mention of 3h (something about the contract with QR where I'm elite) and oneworld same-day-departure rules. But they made an exception as I was transiting with MH. YMMV.
I would insist on oneworld access rules being applied for same day or early morning departures regardless of actual hours. Other than that, it's a matter of goodwill and luck.
