I used the similar offer once. I can change the AmexTravel-purchased ticket on Delta.com but the system gave me a warning of "no credit" when I attempted to cancel. I ended up changing to a more expensive route (adding more money) and it went fine. I am not sure we could get any Delta credit back by changing or cancelling the AmexTravel tickets on Delta.com.

I would use the offer only if I am sure I would fly.
