Just a random thought as I was reading your report... It definitely could have been the FA mistaking the name, but it could also have been muscle memory, or some combination of the two. For a couple of years, just about every flight I took actually had dulce de leche ice cream, so I can imagine the FA's got really accustomed to saying it. (Just as it is today the catering spec is a blend of Dulce and Haagen-Dazs products, but it feels like the dulce de leche current place is being taken by the vanilla chocolate chip Haagen-Dazs, if I had to guess.)
