Confused about earning United MP PQP on Copa

Earn one PQP for every five award miles. You can earn a maximum of 750 PQP for Economy and Premium Economy, and 1,500 PQP for First and Business Class.

Supposed i purchase a ticket, LAX-PTY-EZE - in J - does this mean I earn 3,000 PQP?

How does United determine award miles on a partner - is it based on the price of the ticket?

Currently shopping a one-way LAX-PTY-EZE - in J - $1700
