It depends on the difference between economy and economy+ on United (I haven't flown United in years). If it's extra legroom in economy+, I wouldn't have any problem paying extra---that, plus a slightly wider seat and extra entertainment options, is about all that distinguishes WT from WT+, and I pay more for that on BA.
