I was staying at the oHilton Tokyo Odaiba in Tokyo. My spouse was attending an event and we had an event rate.

When we checked-in, there was no acknowledgment of our Diamond status. When I inquired about the lounge info and was told there was no Diamond perks for us since our rate is an event rate and discounted.

This was the first time I heard of no Diamond benefit if it was a discounted rate. Then does it mean there will also be no benefit if it is an award stay, since you do not pay for the room?

Any people experience the same thing? I at all our hotel stays, we were never denied any status benefits, be it any paid rate or award stay.
