Having flown to Lima for years , there was absolutely no difference between Delta One long haul versus Lima. Still premium bedding and Missoni amenity kit being offered, though.
Had a word with purser and he was extremely embarrased. He was able to share that they are thinking in re establishing the service due to the amount of complaints. Apparently, the rationale was that they wanted to align with what LATAM is offering in the LIM/ATL LIM/MIA sectors.
Pricewise, ticket was over GBP2.5K from US to Peru and back, more expensive than before so this change is absolutely a shameless cost cutting exercise.
If someone flies this route in DL ONE, do report to Delta as it will help make a case to re esrablish the traditional service. Won't be flying this route on Delta until the service is re established or price goes down.

Experienced the same on a trip to/from LIM back in January. No Port loaded either despite being on the menu - still have not successfully had Port since pre-Covid. The ex-LA A350s are very dated as well and we had seat issues both directions. The meal ex-ATL was quite good however the meal ex-LIM was not good at all.
Basically DL is really cost-cutting on north/mid S. America.
