There are times and places where somebody can expect dietary restrictions to be accommodated - restaurants, for example, and I don't really think this is one of those times or places.
For all those who have an issue with this property's lack of breakfast benefit - let's not forget that this property is consistently the #2 most redeemed for property in the US across all of Marriott Bonvoy. People that complain about breakfast mean nothing to the hotel. There's a line of many other people who are more than happy to redeem their points for this hotel, breakfast or not. The hotel knows this and they clearly DGAF about elite benefits. They are in the position of strength here, not us
It's a great property. I am glad I stayed there in 2018. If they are not following terms and conditions, we take action. I did that against the Sheraton Grand Seattle and won. Marriott agreed with me that the property wasn't honoring the breakfast benefit. The hotel didn't care. Marriott gave me 40,000 points to forget about the issue this time basically. I accepted. It hurt Marriott directly, and maybe that will mean they enforce the terms. If not, next time I will get the $100 or another 40,000 points. If a property follows the terms, but the benefits are weak, we can accept that or go elsewhere. It's that simple. I make my case public to be sure others know. If I really wanted to stay at the property, I would call them and ask nicely for a change in benefit. If they refused--and I still wanted to stay--I would just go and make the situation known in person. Management staff can hear then in person that my family can't eat there because the selection available is medically contraindicated for us and isn't considerate. That's really all I can do.
