Despite what the AA screenshot shows, your trip was not changed to become separate "flights"; you still have the same number of flights (three) that you had before. Do you now have two separate "tickets"? And if so, are they in the same PNR or in separate PNRs? If separate PNRs, AA will not through-check your baggage to KOA, even if you wanted them to. If you have separate tickets on the same PNR, I'm not sure what AA's policy is about through-checking.
Yes sorry - I forgot to add the HNL-KOA in the post. It seems that the agent did a ticket exchange from the original ticket so I still have one ticket in one PNR. It's just intersting that the system now doesn't treat the last flight as a connection flight from HNL.
