Charged For Cancelling Room Wrongly Booked by Marriott Agent

Can anyone give me any insight on how to go about getting these charges reversed.

I was on line looking to book a Marriott that I stay in frequently for business. It did not come up so I called the Titanium line. I told the agent the hotel I was looking for, "The Marriott." She said she saw availability and so I asked her to book it. While still on the phone with her, I see the reservation in my account and I inform her she had booked the Courtyard not the Marriott. She acknowledged the error and cancelled the reservation that was for the next day. She informed me the Marriott was sold out. I then ended the phone call and made other arrangements. A week or so later, I see a charge for the room on my credit card. I call Marriott Titanium line and they basically tell me too bad, I was within the deadline for free cancellations. I asked to speak to a manager and the person said, they were the manager. I basically told him that it was completely unacceptable; he said he would see what he could do. Three days later I am emailed a receipt for the charge for the cancellation. Unreal...

What is the next level of escalation?
