JFK T1: two pieces of carry-on and one personal item?
This is a quai F Class and quasi JFK Terminal ! question.
In February I flew a non-StarAlliance carrier out of JFK Terminal 1 and I was told by the airline staff that I would not be allowed to board with my two carry-ons plus purse/laptop carrier. I asked since when and they said it was a Terminal ! decision. As I only travel with carry-ons, I was taken aback. (Having had the experience of my checked luggage going MIA for 3 weeks I travel light)
At the start of the security lane, I was told that I could not enter with three pieces, but I could put my purse in the half-empty carry-on. Which I did. An Italian man travelling with his teenaged daughter was outraged and plowed ahead. I asked the staff - not TSA, not airline - when was this change instituted. He insisted that it had 'always been that way'. I asked who made the decision, and he said TSA.
I tried to get an answer from TSA and they said the airlines...
My question now is - has anyone recently flown out of Terminal ! and travelled either First or Business? Were you allowed, as per the reservation information two pieces of carry-on and one personal item?
Thanks in advance.
