Hotel: Radisson Blu Scandinavia Göteborg
Status: VIP
Booked: Superior Room
Received: Junior Suite upgrade

Welcome Treatment: 1 apple in the room
Length of Stay: 3 nights with +1
Lounge Access: Not included, even for VIP members; available for ~€28 per person and day. We paid €180 in total for the two of us over three days.
Check-in: Friendly but hectic due to a long queue.

Review & Impressions:
As a Radisson Rewards VIP member, I stayed at the Radisson Blu Scandinavia in Gothenburg for three nights with my wife. While I received an upgrade from a Superior Room to a Junior Suite, this turned out to be less of a privilege than expected: The hotel has a large number of Junior Suites and full Suites, none of which include Executive Lounge access—not even for VIP members.

So, we paid for lounge access separately. Unfortunately, what was offered fell short of expectations:
  • The lounge is small and the food offering extremely limited.
  • On day one, only two plates of snacks (some cheese and two salmon open-faced sandwiches) were served—for all guests with lounge access (about 15).
  • On day two, again just two small salmon plates. I asked twice and was told, honestly: “When it’s gone, it’s gone.”
  • On day three, it was reduced further: a small bowl of olives and a bit of ham.
  • No bread, no desserts (apart from a bit of fruit).
  • Drinks: soft drinks, water, a bit of beer and wine (from 5 to 7 PM)—that’s it.
VIP Corner?
As a VIP member, you’re informed about a “VIP Corner.” It means you can request non-alcoholic beverages at the bar—but only from Sunday to Thursday, and only until 5 PM. On Fridays and Saturdays, this service is suspended completely. The bar is open, but regular prices apply. This comes across as very stingy and doesn’t align with the VIP concept.

Extras:
Sauna access is €25 per person, per 2h—also not included, even for suite guests with VIP status. Frankly, this felt a bit misplaced.

Conclusion:
The hotel itself is nicely located, modern, and the rooms are well equipped. But the way VIP treatment is handled feels more like limitation than recognition. Lounge access is charged even for suites, the VIP Corner is barebones and limited to weekdays, and the food is rationed to an extreme. For elite guests hoping for that “little extra,” this stay was more disappointing than rewarding.
