I persisted that the rules had changed three weeks and ago and that this lounge was very clearly on the list of ST domestic lounges, but they insisted that I was not eligible. Fortunately, another lounge employee (possibly the manager??) came up, and he was familiar with the rule change. He took the my boarding pass and the non-status pass of my spouse and tried to override the system, with no luck. He told me to go ahead and enter the lounge with my spouse, and he was finally able to get it corrected and return our boarding passes about ten minutes later. So I guess the answer to my question about access is still very much, it depends. Hopefully, they will get the system sorted out soon and the staff will be properly informed about the rules.
Once inside, I was quite impressed with the lounge. The food and beverage selection were quite good and of high quality. Being AF, it was the first time I recall seeing actual Champagne (not 'sparkling wine' or Prosecco) in a J lounge outside of Europe, which is always a plus. It was a very relaxing space once I got pass the stressful front desk, and it was only about a ten-minute walk to my flight in the C gates, which was well worth the detour.
Thank you for reporting here (and for the pictures - looks very nice and good indeed). It's really a pity to see once again evidences of lack of training of staff.
