It was just a one-night, we decided to try out the panoramic room as an experiment

How can our opinions about hotels on this forum differ depending on our personality or country of residence ?

Regarding upgrades — as I already mentioned back in February last year — it's clear that the hotel does not offer upgrades to suites, and that seems to be their standard practice. During a conversation with a front desk staff member who was showing us the "available" rooms, she explained that the reason they don’t provide suite upgrades is simply the limited number of suites. She stated that out of 223 rooms in the hotel, there are only 8 suites, and those are usually booked by guests who pay directly for that room type.

At check-in, we were informed that we had received an "upgrade" from a standard room to a "panoramic room." Since I read this forum and other sources, I know that this type of upgrade can be problematic or questionable for some guests. We asked to see both the panoramic room and the standard room, and the staff kindly showed us both. And now our experience confirms what has already been mentioned here — the standard room is actually larger and cooler than the so-called upgraded panoramic rooms. However, for those of us living in cooler parts of Europe where we don’t usually have air conditioning, a room temperature of 24°C (75°F) is bearable for a short stay. But for guests coming from regions where air conditioning is standard, the room will most likely feel too warm.

Since it was just a one-night stay, we decided to try out the panoramic room as an experiment.

We had no issues communicating with the hotel staff in English, but we did have a problem with the quality of services at the hotel.

- This was one of the first hotels that, during same-day as check-in communication, informed me that the standard check-in time is from 3 PM, and that our request for an early check-in at 1 PM would be difficult to accommodate and would be treated as "early check-in" — emphasizing that they usually check guests in after 3 PM. No hotel has ever written to me in this way before — well, maybe only when we requested check-in as early as 9 AM.

- We checked in around 1:45 PM. Our luggage was left at the front desk level, and we were told it would be delivered to our room. We left the room to explore the city at 2:45 PM, and by that time our luggage still hadn't arrived. When we returned to the hotel at 7 PM, our bags were still sitting on a cart near the reception. When we pointed this out, the staff responded that they didn’t know why the bags were still there and said they would deliver them to the room right away — which they eventually did.

- Now, regarding the club lounge — I don’t understand the enthusiasm for this part of the hotel. For us, it was a complete misunderstanding when it comes to the quality of service and the preparation of the table for guests. As for the hot dishes, yes, they are tasty and well-prepared, but we’ve had the same in other cheaper hotels in HCMC. The club lounge is relatively small considering the large number of rooms. Most of the space consists of double tables arranged along the windows, with only a few larger tables for four people. We arrived in the evening when there were hot dishes, sweets, and drinks available. We managed to find one double table for four people.
As for all the tables, they are prepared similarly to McDonald's — just a bare surface with no napkins, cutlery, or sugar — just a plain table.
When I asked the staff at the bar where I could find a knife and fork to eat watermelon, they pointed to a spot and said, "They are over there." Earlier, I had walked around the entire area without seeing what I was looking for, so I asked a specific question, and they pointed with their fingers, "They're there." Yes, they were there, but probably an hour ago. Currently, there were only soup spoons left. I politely went to the indicated spot and confirmed what I saw two minutes ago, so I went back to the bar and told them that they weren't there. The fork was delivered to the table shortly after, but the knife only arrived after 5 minutes. There is nowhere to place the cutlery on the table except on the bare surface, which for hygienic reasons we do not find acceptable.
We were brought the list of available drinks for the evening. My wife took quite a long time deciding what to order. The first order was placed, and the waitress took the list away. When I asked her to leave it on the table for us, she answered that they only have a few copies and couldn’t leave it with us?! Seriously? In a hotel at this price point, you only have five copies of the menu?
Good thing we had a double table for four people, because the dirty plates we accumulated ended up piling up on the second table for 30 minutes and no one from the staff made any effort to clear them. After 30 minutes, there was the first attempt to clear the mess from our table - yes, but only half of it was taken, while the other half remained. The staff member who started cleaning up went off to another part of the lounge, happily chatting with some ‘returning’ hotel guests. I had to walk over and politely remind her that she might want to finish what she had started. In the end, we left the lounge with our drinks almost untouched and went back to our room.

In the room, it's not possible to connect your own device to the TV via HDMI, as the TV is permanently mounted to the wall. The internet speed is a symmetrical 100/100 Mbps.
Someone decided that a single touchscreen LCD controller next to the bed is enough to manage the lights and air conditioning in the room – you can only turn on the bathroom lights using a wall switch, everything else can ONLY be controlled from that one LCD controller.
The bathroom is small, with a cramped shower that definitely didn’t have the strong water pressure someone mentioned earlier.
As for the quality of the furniture, I had no complaints — just standard hotel furniture, nothing more.

Breakfast is still ahead of us 😉
