The only thing they care about is your size requirements on personal items. And that's usually only if you're not in zone 1. Zone 1 means you're at least gold or bought a carryon bag. Now obviously you can't get stupid with your carryon, but as long as it's a normal bag, they don't size it. Weight is meaningless, they have no scales.

Long story short, they only care about general boarding personal item sizes.
