Interesting how ORD is the only NRT route. You'd think there would be more demand for international connecting itineraries beyond what can be done via HND.
JAL does not really have an onwards first class network. Bangkok and Sydney in the Southern Hemisphere summer season are the connections from Tokyo in first class coming from Europe or the US. You could say connecting Bangkok to the US in first class. But those two routes are Haneda based.
I could imagine that the majority of the non award first class business is Japan based, and thus Haneda makes sense.
