One reason you can't get one may be the dreaded Bombay - down drbala! - where seat allocation now lives.

My tale: I'm trying to get a bassinet-fitted seat for a LHR - ALA return in Club for April/May out/back. Was told on booking - you have to book before you can know whether you have the bassinet which is mad enough - that it would take 4 days to hear because of a backlog in Bombay. When the answer came it was that they could not give these seats (they offered 3C) because (first) "they weren't available" (second - after I expressed scepticism about the likelihood of large numbers of babies on this route) "that bassinets weren't available on British Mediterranean flights". That is true for their A320s, but not on the A321s that fly to ALA, and it says as much on the BMed website.

I called BMed to confirm, called BA back and a request to "look again please in light of A321 equipment used" has now gone to Bombay. We shall see, but it really shouldn't need me to spend quite a long time calling, holding, talking myself to BMed, calling and holding again to sort out something that Bombay should just DO!

Rant over. Sorry.
