That's really not true. Sure there are occasional reports of a problem with Marriott, but they are not the norm. I can recall being denied late checkout exactly twice at Marriotts where I was entitled to the benefit in the past decade (both at Essex House) - and that's over the course of several hundred nights. Even at Marriott resort and conference properties, I've done pretty well.
