I don't like the monetization of elite benefits, but Hilton has always been incredibly weak in the area of late checkout. No definition of late ("best I can do is noon"), no guarantee, reflexive denial at the property level, etc. So it's hard to get too worked up about this development, since nothing is really being lost.
