No, it's not recent. Been this way for years.
Nonrevs *do* show up on both lists ahead of time. They only get the green checkmark when they check in. But they also only show up on the standby list when checked in. The standby list doesn't have a green checkmark; it is in itself a green checkmark-like feature. You only appear on the standby list if checked in.

I'd do the same if I didn't have the ability to just check the standby list -- and in fact did do that before they recently granted eligible passriders the ability to see the standby list in the app. I don't passride much at all anymore, but I definitely use this feature.
You get some perks of being an employee
Seeing how far down the list you are based on seniority and other IROPS factors, etc.
