Two recent stays in the Pittsburgh area:
Courtyard Pittsburgh Greensburg
One night weeknight stay. Very good stay. Everything fresh and clean. Felt like a relatively new property. Location is outside of Greensburg, on the west side, in a giant strip mall with a Walmart, but on its own side street, so it was quiet. Tons of free parking. They have a few rooms with usable balconies that actually include two chairs and a table, and a few suites, otherwise most rooms are standard rooms.
No problem with a Platinum 2pm check-out.
I had to drive into Greensburg proper twice during the stay. A little annoying to get onto the highway and down the hill, but workable. Crowd seemed to be mostly overnight business travelers to local businesses.
It's a long way to downtown Pittsburgh, but If I needed to be in this specific area again for an overnight, I'd definitely pick this place.
Courtyard Pittsburgh Airport
Friday night stay. Quite good. Everything in good condition, tons of free parking. Obviously this is an airport hotel but they also get a lot of business from the Air Force Reserve base across the street. I was able to secure a 3pm Platinum check-out with no issue but it required speaking with a manager. (Apparently they struggle when they have a huge turnover of rooms due to the Air Force requirements.)
Everyone friendly and helpful.
I had a balcony room facing the airport. With the door open, I could hear the loudspeakers at the Air Force Reserve base playing the national anthem and other military songs at certain points of the day. Kind of an unusual novelty... I could also just barely see some planes taking off.
I did need to drive back into downtown PIttsburgh at one point on Saturday morning. It's a long drive and can be pretty bad when there's traffic. Even on a Saturday, it was still a solid 20 minutes of expressway driving. (I ended up taking the local roads along the river for a change of pace.)
They do have an airport shuttle and proactively offered to drive me to the airport. Note that they are on the back side of the airport, so it's still a 10+ minute drive to the terminal.
I think this hotel is just fine for the airport area, especially if you have a car to park.
