I was pleasantly and unexpectedly surprised by this HGI, where I stayed on St. Patrick's Day, albeit for a very short night between flights. I chose this property for proximity to Sacramento International Airport (SMF). It is a good 8 km / 5 miles away, but there aren't many other options significantly nearer. The location of this HGI was close to 2 other Hilton group hotels in the same commercial zone, namely a Homewood and a Hampton. There is a Denny's within a short walking distance and a few similar chains not far away. I used a Uber to the HGI from SMF, but took advantage of the hotel's shuttle bus for the return to SMF early the next morning. The efficient shuttle is 24/7 and runs at 30 minute intervals, on the 30 minutes, from the hotel. It would take at least 10, more typically 15 minutes to get to the two terminal pickup locations.

First surprise was my first ever (and so far only) USA recognition of Lifetime status, with the bonus of a pack of biscuits and complimentary breakfast. Unfortunately I can't report on the breakfast offering due to the early departure time but the biscuits were useful. My Lifetime status was also mentioned by the friendly check-in agent - I had used OLCI and digital key but needed to check the shuttle arrangements.

The next surprise, on the way to the lifts, but within pointing distance of the front desk, was this:

I can't recall any other Hilton in the USA being this pro-active and it could have saved a lot of problems had this been more universally adopted.

In the lift was a big push for the onsite restaurant, and clearly they have a real chef - that night's special, for St. Patrick's, was "Irish Corned beef and cabbage", which to use a British-ism is quite a brave proposition.

Here are some general photos, the hardware is all pretty much out of HGI Design Central. As mentioned above the bathrooms have sliding doors, but they seemed OK to me. I didn't notice any noise issues, my room was at the far end furthest away from the West Side Freeway, which I had chosen via OLCI. I would certainly stay here again, and I would want to try the in-house catering.
