I had a bad experience with this on Alaska and Horizon

I was flying from PSC to SEA to SFO. The Horizon flight from PSC was going to take off late (with no explanation), but the gate agent insisted I still board and told me there was plenty of time to get my connection at SEA for SFO.

I got to SEA right as they closed the door for the Alaska SFO flight. The SFO gate agent claimed PSC had weather problems, and therefore they couldn't have held the flight for me. There were no weather problems in PSC, and I called PSC and they told me there were weather problems in SEA that prevented they from leaving on time. SEA had no weather issues.

It was the last flight of the night, and I had to find a hotel room on my own.

I contacted both Horizon and Alaska customer service offices when I finally got home and asked for hotel compensation and both claimed the other had "weather" problems.
