April Stay

Had a good stay in April. As Inner Circle I Booked Queen Bed City Single and received an upgrade to Queen Bed Essential Balcony about a week out. During my 3 day stay I had multiple interactions with front desk, guest services and breakfast staff and found all good ... hotel was well run. Was not offered 4pm checkout but didn't need it. Arrived at 9AM and room wasn't ready but was offered a courtesy room which I accepted. > Trigger Alert For HadesNL < ... Kimpton Inner Circle Stay Preferences in my profile were completely ignored.

I love the location. If I take the RER in from CDG there's a metro stop a 5 minute walk from the hotel entrance. There's lots of retail close by including a nice Carrefour City around the corner for groceries. Many of the city sites are a modest walk away.

The Queen Bed Essential Balcony was ok ... the living area with the bed would be cosy for 2 people but is well decorated and appointed. Hated the bed mattresses .. both courtesy and booked rooms had mattresses with no support/firmness. The bathroom was decent sized and functional ... nice shower. There was a comfy chair and table. WIFI was strong and fast. There was a large TV but HDMI was not accessible.

There was a small/basic gym and pool. There was a very nice rooftop bar with great views of the city on the 10th floor. From the lobby you could see some elements of the building's former life as a department store including the non-working/restored elevators as well as original/restored spiral stairs leading to the second floor and a reading areas that over looks the Capucines. Finally, bikes are available to comp rent.

I considered the breakfast basic/underwhelming for a luxury property. I went early and didn't have any crowd issues. At check-in I asked what breakfast was included as inner circle and was told I could order buffet and from the a la cart. The a la cart was charged to the room but zeroed out before check out. Was surprised that the bacon was cooked in a deep fryer ... was hard/crunchy and didn't have much taste. Ordered eggs benedict from the a la cart the first two mornings and found it bland. I did buffet only the final morning. Didn't check out the restaurant for lunch/dinner.

Would I stay again ? Possible .... but with their big brother the IC Paris Le Grand across the street .... is similar priced, has a club, has a MUCH better breakfast among other things ? ... probably not.
