Just trying to figure out the location of the gates are being referred to here : according to online maps gates 31 to 34 are on the satellite (pier 3), which are closer to the main terminal than those at the end of pier 2 and don’t require walking past lots of other gates on the way. The description certainly sounds more like pier 2 than pier 3 with gates 25 and 27 being the furthest walk from the departure lounge/immigration depending whether you are departing/arriving. There is a small retail presence in the pod at the end of pier 2.
Stands are dynamically allocated based on a number of factors, one of which is not allocate BA flights to gates 25 and 27 as suggested. Given the volume of BA flights the probability of one of their aircraft being allocated those stands will be higher than an airline with fewer frequencies.
