I saw the press release this morning and it is sponsored by AT&T. My hunch is that the timing revolves around the sponsorship deal and wanting to get the E170/5 fleet updated. Besides different providers, nothing would be more annoying than how DL approaches “free WiFi” where it doesn’t apply to several equipment types.

I am all for this if they retain the same speeds that I pay for today via the monthly pass. I don’t mind paying the $59 per month for quick WiFi across mainline and some regionals.
