Detailed review of my stay in April 2025

What is your IHG One Rewards status?
Diamond Inner Circle Royal Ambassador

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay
Yes, great stay and very pleasant property.

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked cheapest rate and was upgraded to 1 Bedroom Suite Danube View.

How are the rooms?
Around 45sqm large.

Nice contemporary design.

Living room with sofa, armchair and dining table.

Bedroom very comfortable bed and open bathtub.

Bathroom with walk-in shower.
Balmain toiletries.

Television set good selection of international channels.
The language of the cinema channels can be changed easily.
Chromecast (but the system failed the second day, as it did during my previous stay).

Usb and power sockets next to the bed
Very quiet.

Nespresso machine and kettle.
Bang & Olufsen Beosound A5 portable speaker.

No Free PressReader

How is the exec. lounge?
N/A

What was good and what was bad?

GOOD
- Very attentive service from all staff
- The suite is comfortable.
- Very good breakfast and excellent Saturday’s brunch at very good value (
19,990 HUF + service charge, which is around EUR50 plus charge, including drinks)
- Pleasant spa (but unfortunately with no pool, only a plunge pool, and no natural light).
- Very pleasant rooftop bar with an impressive panoramic view.
- Shared bike station just next to the hotel and of course free bikes.
- I was offered - without asking - a very nice Mercedes Class S airport transfer as a compensation of Chromecast broken in the room.

BAD
- Nothing

Value for $ or IHG One Rewards Club? Would you return?
The hotel is really pleasant: located on the edge of the historic part of the city, it makes it easy to explore the surrounding area on foot or by bike (the hotel is a 20-minute walk from Parliament, 25 minutes from the Castle and 15 minutes from the very pleasant Széllkapu park).
The area is becoming more and more trendy with a series of cool restaurants and bars in the immediate vicinity.

I'm not a big fan of Marcel Wanders' work, whose language often overwhelms architecture with gimmicks rather than sublimating it.
But here, his work is quite interesting (excluding the useless and kitsch deer statue in the lobby or the statues outside).

Definitely a very good option in Budapest (especially as the InterContinental, in a perfect location, has still not begun its renovation).
