Not true. You can if travelling on an airline that still permits smoking.

Ryanairs claim of "compromising safety" by smoking is risible. If they banned them for breaching rules, that would be fine. The fact that it is in the newspaper suggests more to me that RyanScare thought this event would be a great way to get free publicity.

I don't blame an airline for banning a person for breaking rules, but keep things in perspective. iirc, no airline accident has been due to a passenger smoking.
