Odd. I have purchased biz flex on ITA twice and both times I could select any seat with no fee.
At some point I recall seeing a fee notice on the app (I think), but going through the selection process eventually generated no fee.
This was in Summer 2024 and just recently, after the Star Alliance announcement.
Spoke with someone on the phone -- they claim business flex gives you either a) the middle seats or b) the aisle seat. Window seat is for a fee (business flex saves you $15 off that fee - which is a little ridiculous since the "regular seats" cost $150+ for non-flex tickets)
