Does anyone have any insight as to the bags that EVA use for replacement luggage - and whether it would be advisable to accept this or pursue cash compensation instead?

Sorry to hear that. BR should be able to offer cash compensation, but it might not be enough to cover your loss.

I’ve had my bags damaged by BR a few times in the last couple years, but all arriving into TPE. One time a PP luggage was cracked and deemed unrepairable by the luggage repairer. BR offered cash compensation that was probably 30% of what the luggage retailed for, and eventually around 50% of MSRP after some escalation. They did ask for a Taiwan bank account.
