I'm looking at multiple levels of mystery with a booking tomorrow: me on a cash ticket, Mrs. DCA writer (who is 1K via my MM status and holds a Gateway credit card) and Mini DCA writer on a mileage ticket booked with pooled UA miles. The three of us have been at the top of the upgrade list since yesterday; my CPU cleared early this morning, then my wife's cleared shortly after check-in time into the seat next to mine--leaving our 14yo off the upgrade list and in the originally booked seat. The app now shows separate trips for my wife and kid, with the latter's listed as "CPU eligible" despite having no status.

I think my wife's CPU cleared before she checked in, because she didn't mention seeing the option to keep a travel companion along on the upgrade list. There doesn't seem to be anything we can do at this point in the app, and a rep on the 1K line said she couldn't put the two trips back together on her end. Did we miss a step somewhere, or is this a glitch unavoidable with a CPU clearing right before somebody checks in?

(I'm solving this snafu by swapping seats with my kid... I think that if y'all saw the amount of work travel I've had over the last several weeks and will have next month, you would agree that it is the wiser option.)
