Iberia will generate its own PNR but yield no result on Vueling. Need to click "check in" on Iberia App (website somewhat crashed) to find out Vueling PNR. Reservation at first shown as only 1 underseat bag, but was able to select both rear and front seats. After doing the online check in via Vueling, reservation was mysteriously updated to have 2 cabin bags, 1 25kg check bag, Priority boarding (boarding pass now shows Group 1) and Fast Security Lanes.
Not sure if it's a glitch or benefit that comes with Iberia. Seems a bit too good to be true but if it's really the case, redeeming some Avios might be useful for those who need 2 bags+1check bag+Fast lanes.
I recently booked a couple of Vueling flights using Avios through Iberia Plus. I think they map to the Fly Grande benefits. I checked in, which you can do as soon as the ticket is issued, on Vuelings web site and got the 2 cabin bags (1 underseat, 1 in the overhead bin), 1 25 kg checked bag, Priority at the airport, Group 1 boarding, Fast Track, able to chose Space seats near the front of the cabin for free (but not Space Plus or Space One without upcharge), It seems like a pretty good deal for the 5k Avios I spent. I booked two flights this way and both came with the same benefits.
As you mentioned Vueling uses a different PNR from Iberia, but when you book on Iberia, when the booking confirmation page displays there will be a link to check in on the Vueling site and if you click that link you will be taken to Vueling and shown the Vueling PNR. I believe that you also can find this check-in link on the Iberia website under manage booking (it does not show the Vueling PNR but it gives a link to the Vueling check in page that will show the Vueling PNR).
