One said that BOA received the funds and then WU asked for them back. I have gone as far as escalating this to the BOA CEO office and they provide bogus answers. Western union provided me documentation that the money order cleared on 1/9/25, they provided an image of it and it was just as I had filled it out, which rules out someone duplicating the MO and depositing it before I could. WU states that it was paid to BOA but can not tell me what exact account it went into. Has anyone ever run into this or something similar or am I just out $998?
The reason for the chargeback is that BOA did not receive the funds from WU. There could be many reasons for this. WU may be lacking the funds from where ever you bought the MO. Or WU may consider that MO a forgery. Or WU did not receive the funds from the store you bought the MO. So you need the following.
1. Evidence that the MO is legit. You need to have the receipt from the store you bought the MO with the receipt info matching the MO. Since you have a scan of the deposit, that should be easy to provide. I suspect you used GCs to make the purchase. Hopefully, you have kept them and their receipts in case WU challenges you by claiming the GCs were fraudulent..(I suspect that this is the reason for the chargeback

)
2. Evidence that you made the deposit. Already done.
You do need to go back to WU and dispute the issue with them. Since you have a receipt for the MO and evidence that the MO was deposited at BOA, they will have to show that the funds were not received from the store. But that is their issue, not yours.
You may have to duke it out with the store if WU can back up their claim that either the GCs were bogus or the store did not send the money from your GC purchase to them. The store should have an overage on the day of your purchase of $998 in the latter case.
You should get your money back. It may take a while.
Good luck and let us know how you do.
