I suspect that was the issue in the first application. I applied again last week, was approved yesterday morning and the card arrived this morning. I did not do a Global Transfer as I had downgraded my US Platinum to a Gold for the 4x on Dining and Supermarkets and they would do a like for like application and wasn't interested in a Spanish Gold.
