Prior to arrival, I emailed the hotel asking about a possible upgrade since we were traveling with four large pieces of luggage. Standard rooms are only 27 sqm, so space was going to be tight. I didn’t get a clear reply, but was led to believe an upgrade might be offered based on availability.
At check-in, we were given the same room size, just with a “river view” — which turned out to be a very partial view (attached photo). I asked again at the desk about a larger room, mentioning my email. The receptionist said she’d check and came back saying nothing was available. I had already checked the IHG app and saw plenty of junior suites listed, so that was frustrating. I decided not to push it further.
The room itself was small but had an airy feel. That said, we had to rearrange furniture just to make space for our stuff. The sliding door separating the bed and toilet isn’t ideal if you're traveling with someone you're not super close with — zero sound privacy.
Location-wise, the hotel is in a great spot. Short taxi/walk to major tourist spots, and the surrounding area has convenience stores, massage places, and restaurants. The neighborhood had a strong Japanese vibe to it.
Breakfast setup was a bit odd — a long, narrow hallway separates the buffet from the seating area. I’d be curious to see how it works when the hotel is full, but I doubt it flows well. Food quality and selection were mediocre at best, not five-star level. Also noticed dirty utensils one morning.
Service overall was friendly. The pool area was actually better than expected — water was a nice temp and there was sun — but only about 5 loungers and limited space. Major downside: the pool was closed for events from 07:00–14:00 on
two of our three days. That was never mentioned at booking or check-in.
All in all, I’d say the hotel feels more like a solid 4-star city hotel. Certainly not worth €150/night in my opinion. Elite recognition was poor, and given the small rooms and so-so F&B, I wouldn’t choose this hotel again unless the price or promo was very compelling.
Attaching a photo of the so-called “river view” for reference.
