Technically, I believe it is against WN policies, but I am sure there are people who have done this with no repercussions. Why not just use the credits on a flight you know you are going to take rather than take a 20% haircut?
Yeah, I'm sure other people can still use up SW credits efficiently, but the lack of flexibility that Southwest is introducing with expiration dates makes these credits really hard to use for me and my family. For me personally, it will be better to book fully refundable fares or points bookings going forward, in which case I would rather fly Alaska/Hawaiian.
