It's a "no" on all fronts, unfortunately: can't combine cash and Avios bookings either during or after, and BA won't check through on separate tickets nor will they protect you in case of misconnects. Don't know if EI have a different policy on checking through, but wouldn't think it likely.

All in all: make a different plan.
