Frustrating - Dallas Northwest HLE closed but told all was good

Bit of a messy situation for me today - Hertz allowed me to pickup an airport rental for dropoff at a local HLE that was/now is closed.

I had a one way rental from last saturday to this morning, Monday, from DFW to the Dallas - Lyndon B Johnson (aka Dallas Northwest HLE). 3 days ago I checked my reservation after getting a notice to check in to my Hertz rental, which I had never seen before (although see there is another thread on that - probably just coincidence).

When viewing my reservation, it looked messed up - there were no details, it said #undefined , so I did some googling and found a reddit thread where someone else had this happen to them before, but in the end it was all good. I tried calling this location, and when I selected to talk to someone local, the call ended. I couldn't find a Hertz contact number so messaged them via Social media and was told that my reservation looked good on their end. I did specifically ask about this location, if they were still open, as I noticed that the location was not allowing any pickups or dropoffs, and was told the social media team would look into it and get back to me.

I also had a one-way pickup at this location, but that record seemed fine. I looked into just trying to make new reservations but no where else would take a one way reservation online, stating no vehicles available (at least for a one way).

Later that night I got an email from Hertz customer care saying that the location is closed, but they assured me there was still someone there to finish out existing reservations.

Next day arrvied at DFW, and I figured if there was an issue, I wouldn't be allowed to pickup. My name was on the board as expected, I grabbed my vehicle, and checked out without any issue, so I figured I would be fine.

Well this morning, I went to the location (which is inside a Car Dealership), and was pointed to the small hertz office. I waited for about 30 minutes at the desk, but no one came. I asked the lady at the front desk of the dealership if there was a way to get a hold of someone and was just told that they aren't affiliated with Hertz - which is fair. I contacted the social media team again and was told that the location was/is now closed until at least July 7th, 2025. I asked about trying to get my reservation updated or modified, but they informed me that as the social media team, they don't touch rentals, which again I understand, but was now pretty upset since I was left hanging in this position.

In the end, I went to another local HLE that was open (shoutout to the Mesquite HLE) - where thankfully, they were able to modify my contracts and get me sorted out. But this cost me about 3 hours of my time this morning, and more importantly I can't help but feel that Hertz - either corporate or the local HLE - should have at least told me the location was closed.

Anyone else have any similar stories?
