Partner redemptions of UA short haul sweet points are all gone?
Previously, some of the best options for redeeming UA short-haul flights for commuting were:
  • LifeMiles: 6,500 miles + $5.60 tax + $10 booking fee (round-trip is simply double that). Now they charged 10k one way.
  • Aeroplan: 12,000 miles + ~CAD 50 round-trip — slightly cheaper than booking two one-ways due to the lower booking fees. Now they charged 10k one way.
Lifemiles at 6500 + $5.6 tax + $10 booking, round trip is the simple doubling.
Aeroplan round trip 12000 + about CAD 50, cheaper than twice of the one-way due to the booking fee.

Now, it seems Emirates might be the best option. They advertise redemptions starting at 8,000 miles, though it's limited to selected UA airports. Anyone know of a better option?
