There are multiple mitigation strategies beyond an outright ban if one is truly concerned. Requiring all power banks to be held by consumers or just not in the overhead bin makes sense to me.
I'm not trying to be rude or dismissive, I want safe aviation, however I don't know how much safer this is truly making aviation compared to how much its an inconvenience to everyone (*crew included! no crew member I have talked to is happy about this)
Old 5000-10000mah were less prone.
The new higher power ones are more potent. There are knockoff ones that does not have a proper safety shut down circuit and it doesn't take much to overheat the latest high capacity LiON vs the low density or ni-cad.
