Wow, yikes. That's sounds hugely inflationary as I doubt cash rates went up by a similar percentage to maintain a somewhat similar points value? In another thread a poster reported IC Rome showing days with 170k points now.

If this is for premium rooms or suites that would be the only justifiable reason for such a difference in points rates. (We discussed this in another thread that some select properties started showing premium rooms & suites now for higher points rates)

If this is for regular rooms and sticks, proofs the old advice to burn regularly and not keep too high of a balance squirreled away for use in a few years time or so. One can only hope this stays the exception, to be seen I guess.

The questionable thing about all these dynamic schemes is exactly this, no need to announce anything when the formulas and / or (pseudo) limits get tweaked. This wouldn't even do anything for the properties (again, premium rooms aside) unless their reimbursement rises, it would be purely a move by IHG to reduce liability of points held by members on their books.
