For the second time, I have been skipped on the upgrade list...

Time #1 at MIA: I was #3 on the list... got to the gate late and noticed as I was boarding that someone from the standby list who was below me was cleared. I got out of line and asked the gate agent how this was possible. The gate agent said it was a brain lapse and that the woman asked her if there were any first class seats open so she gave it to her and forgot to go by the list. ...??? She corrected it on the spot. My theory was this was for a friend and she was hoping I had already boarded and wouldn't notice.

Time #2 at DCA (Today). I was on a confirmed business class award ticket DCA-RDU-MIA-GIG. RDU-MIA got delayed so they put my on DCA-MIA. That flight then got delayed. They moved me to another flight with a note that I was downgraded. I was #2 on the list. #1 on the list (who I met in the lounge) was in the same situation and cleared before boarding. As the doors closed, the upgrade list was removed from vie on the App. Behind me there was a double seat booking which was due to the woman having been upgraded without knowing. I texted a friend of mine who is an employee for AA who looked at the list and told me they upgraded #7.

#1 was super egregious. Before I make a stink (that will likely go nowhere), can anyone think of a reason why #7 on the list would trump #2 who was an involuntary downgrade?
