I could also requalify for Gold based on flying patterns, but I decided against trying for it, and wouldn't bother with any subscriptions. My gut feeling is that Gold perks will get whittled down and although accès aux salons is a nice, it's not really a "must have" as I do zéro business travel and the atmosphère in the salons is hit-or-miss (try Lounge 25 or 2F at 8-9h in the morning).

My focus of flying shifted towards China, and I wouldn't fly AF/KLM for China or Asia in general. So the benefits of AF/KLM status are a bit limited, so I fail to see the benefit of subscribing or paying extra for l'accès to salons.
