We are considering the Marriott in St. Kitts and an all-inclusive package. The best rate found to date was via American Airlines Vacations. Marriott reservations told my wife we were not eligible for points if booked through them. Is this true?

FYI, we want to book directly with Marriott but the look no further guarantee claim was declined even though this is a hotel only package.
